The Townwide Fund of Huntington is pleased to announce that registration is underway for the annual St. Patrick’s Four Mile and Fun Runs, which takes place this year on Saturday, March 9th.
The Start/Finish area is at the American Legion Post #360 in Halesite, located at 360 Mill Dam Road and Route 110, Huntington, NY 11743. The 1K Fun Run will begin at 8:30 AM and the 4-Mile Run will begin at 9:00 AM sharp. The course runs from Mill Dam Road up to West Shore Road, up the hills of Browns Road, then turns and reverses, back to the American Legion building.
Due to the continuing construction on Route 110 (also known as New York Avenue), runners are advised to take Wall Street/West Shore Road north from Main Street (25-A) and park at the ball fields of Mill Dam Park.
In addition to the Fun Run and the Four Mile race, the Hartigan High School Challenge will once more be part of the Four Mile race. It is often used by coaches as an early season training event. The Townwide Fund encourages any high school students to gather a team of five Designees” and come out for fun and to support a good cause.
TWF is also pleased to announce that in partnership with the Halesite Fire Department, this year’s St. Patrick’s run will feature the first “Firefighters Challenge.” Firefighters, EMS providers and all other First Responders from area fire and rescue departments are invited to enter the race, in teams of five. The Halesite FD is taking the lead in getting out the word to area fire and rescue departments and will present special awards to winners of the Firefighters Challenge.
The St. Patrick’s Run is the first big event of the calendar year for the Townwide Fund in its efforts to raise funds to support its twenty member health and human service agencies.
